Southern Charm at the Farm: We're Packing Up Trentheim Designs
October is here, which means fall markets, cooler weather, and one of the biggest vendor events on our calendar. This Saturday, October 3, Trentheim Designs is heading to Southern Charm at the Farm at Farmington Dragway in Mocksville, North Carolina.
Southern Charm brings together hundreds of makers, artists, small businesses, and vendors for a full day of shopping, food trucks, live music, and discovering things you probably weren't looking for when you arrived—but suddenly need before you leave.
That last part is where we come in.
What Are We Bringing?
A little bit of everything.
Trentheim Designs creates laser-engraved and laser-cut gifts, home décor, signs, accessories, suncatchers, ornaments, and plenty of other things that don't always fit neatly into a category. We'll be bringing a mix of longtime favorites along with newer designs we've been working on for the fall and holiday season.
Many of the things you'll see in our booth are designed and made by us in Youngsville, North Carolina. We work with wood, acrylic, leather, metal, and whatever other material inspires the next idea.
And because we're incapable of leaving well enough alone, there's usually something new.
Seeing It in Person Is Different
We love our online shop, but handmade products are often better in person.
A photograph doesn't always show the depth of an engraved piece, the way layers of acrylic interact with light, or how a suncatcher changes when the sun hits it. It also can't quite reproduce the experience of picking something up and realizing, “Yep. I know exactly who I'm giving this to.”
Markets also give us the chance to actually talk to the people buying our work. Tell us what caught your attention. Ask how we made something. Ask whether we can change it. Bring us the strange idea you've been carrying around and ask the question we hear surprisingly often:
“Can you make something like this?”
Quite possibly.
Custom Doesn't Mean Picking From a List
One of the things we want more people to know about Trentheim Designs is that our website isn't a catalog of everything we can make.
It couldn't be.
We do custom laser engraving, laser cutting, signs, personalized gifts, business pieces, event products, and one-off projects that may never appear in the online store. Some of our favorite projects have started with little more than someone showing us an idea and saying, “I don't know if this is possible, but…”
Those are dangerous words around here.
If you're working on something unusual, Southern Charm is a great opportunity to stop by our booth, meet us, and talk through the idea.
Shop Small. Meet the People Who Make the Stuff.
One of the best parts of events like Southern Charm at the Farm is that you're not walking through aisles of anonymous products shipped to a warehouse from somewhere you've never heard of.
You're meeting the people who designed them, made them, packed the trailer, drove to Mocksville, set up the canopy, and will eventually pack the whole thing back up again.
That's part of what makes a good maker market worth visiting.
So come spend Saturday wandering the rows, grab something good to eat, listen to some music, discover a few North Carolina businesses you didn't know existed, and stop by to say hello to Trentheim Designs.
We'll have plenty to show you.
And there's a pretty good chance we're bringing something you haven't seen before.
